Flowers, Food & Farm Tour with Barefoot Blooms

Floral Centrepiece Workshop ~ Local Food Brunch ~ Ironwood Farm Tour

Sunday, August 12th 10:30 am – 4:00 pm

This daylong outing will delight your senses. You will be immersed in a sea of gorgeous blooms, enveloped by the smells of delicious food and surrounded by the beauty of the Hants Shore landscape.

Floral Centrepiece Workshop 10:30-12:00

Your day begins at The Flying Apron Inn & Cookery where you will meet your host for the day, floral designer Denise Stockdale from Barefoot Blooms.  Tea, coffee and Flying Apron pastries will be served, and you will settle into the outdoor classroom to create your floral centrepiece. Denise will guide you through designing your own English cottage inspired centrepiece, where a wildflower vibe will combine with the sophistication found among ornamental flowers.  These statement arrangements bring a whimsical elegance to any room.  Flowers and greenery will have been freshly picked from Barefoot Blooms’ gardens and glassware is provided.

Local Food Brunch 12:00-2:00

With your centrepiece complete, you will then enjoy a delicious brunch in the restaurant. The Flying Apron Cookery changes their brunch menu each week to feature the best local ingredients. You can expect a choice of brunch items such as Eggs Benedict, Waffles or Pancakes and Traditional Breakfast and savory items including our famous Flying Apron Burger, Salad Bowl and our signature Chowder.

Price includes a brunch entrée and tea, coffee or juice, and gratuity. If you have room, desserts, beer & wine are available at an additional cost.

Ironwood Farm Tour 2:00-4:00

You will end your day with a tour of Ironwood Farm, where Denise grows some of her beautiful flowers. Meet farmer Rupert Jannasch to explore the living history of a working mixed farm dating back to 1850.

You will be shown the greenhouse, gardens, blueberries, ornamentals and shade trees in the context of the unique microclimate occupied by the farm. Meat and wool production from the Ironwood sheep flock will also be discussed.
